As occupational therapists, we aim to improve independence in an individual’s functioning within activities of daily living. These activities include: eating, working, dressing, bathing, playing and going to school in the case of a child. We make use of goal-directed activities as to make the session meaningful. Through meaningful activities, learning takes place and changes are made to the way a child functions.
As paediatric occupational therapists our aim is to improve a child’s functioning by using play activities. Sometimes we need to adapt a play activity in order for the child to participate. In the case of a physically disabled child, we make use of Neuro-developmental principles to facilitate more typical movements. We believe in teamwork and therefore include the important role players in the child’s life – parents, caregivers, teachers and other health professionals.
Your child is the most important part of the team and goals for therapy are set according to your child’s greatest current need. At our practice we believe in “the earlier, the better” and therefore aim to reach at-risk children at a very young age.
One of our therapists specialize in Neuro-developmental therapy which specifically focuses on babies and children with neurological problems. We also have a passion for children on the Autistic spectrum.
Situated in the heart of Mosselbay, along the coastline of the Garden Route, South Africa, we are so blessed to be able to take in all of the beauty of God's creation every morning in preparation for our day ahead. Our days are busy, joyously noisy and filled with lots of small little faces. Fun and excitement are at the top of our daily schedules. Our aim is to create awareness and provide therapy for children with special needs and disabilities. Our practice is always a warm place and all are surely welcome! Founded in 2014 by Marna Robertson who is an Occupational Therapist with special interest in Neuro-developmental Therapy, we have grown into a team of very eager ladies who want to make a change. Simoné Willemse is our Speech-, Language - and Hearing Therapist who work from the practice as well as visit the schools where our children need them the most. Dianka Oosthuizen is also an Occupational Therapist and works alongside Marna to provide occupational therapy to all the OT children. We are exited to introduce our upcoming early intervention classes very soon.
